Rally NSW News Changes to the Rally Calendar

Changes to the Rally Calendar

Due to changes in the ARC Calendar for 2022, two events have moved to a new date for 2022.

The Netier National Capital Rally, originally to be held on the weekend of the 26th – 27th of March has moved forward a week due to a clash with the V8 Supercars Calendar. The new date for the event will be the 2nd – 3rd April, 2022.

This date change request from the Netier National Capital Rally’s organising team, meant a clash with the popular Clubman and Hyundai round, the Rockstar Automotive Minidulla Rally. Thank you to SKDAC for graciously moving their event date to one of the spare dates allocated on the NSW Rally Calendar – the 21st May 2022.

Here is the new 2022 NSW Rally Series Calendar – please note down the new dates for the Netier National Capital Rally and the Rockstar Automotive Minidulla Rally:

Our Grass Roots Rally Series Now the Hyundai/Kia Rally SeriesOur Grass Roots Rally Series Now the Hyundai/Kia Rally Series

As the Hyundai Excel X3 model is becoming more scarce and more expensive to buy, we have expanded eligibility to include a far wider range of Hyundai and Kia FWD models up to 1600cc. Still heavily restricted in what modifications can be carried out, it should create a more exciting Series where the cars are expected to retain a high degree of performance parity. Additionally, if you want to start modifying your Hyundai/Kia Series car beyond what is allowed, then we have added the Pocket Rocket Class to the Clubman Rally Series and then you are able to do modifications up to what is allowed in the Production Rally Car Regulations. If your driver seeding no longer makes you eligible for Clubman, there is also a Pocket Rocket Class in the NSW Rally Championship. Therefore, you can start rallying economically in a Hyundai/Kia Series car and progress all the way to the NSW Rally Championship, all in the same car. Further, there are no seeding restrictions in the Hyundai/Kia Rally Series so if you are a past competitor, no longer have the sort of budget required to run a Mitsubishi Evo, Subaru WRX, etc but really want to get out there again, this is also for you. Expanded and Full Field for Mitta Mountain Rally and Mitta MastersExpanded and Full Field for Mitta Mountain Rally and Mitta Masters

Mitta enjoyed 60 entries last year with VRC, Masters, VCRS and including ten entries from NSW, but with the downturn in VRC entries towards the end of 2022, Mitta Organisers were willing to accept the offer to also be part of the NSWRC in 2023, and deal with an oversubscribed field if it ever occurred.

The field limit has been increased from 60 to 80, and 90 entries have been received to date from the crews listed in the attached table.

The larger field is not expected to cause issues with roads in the forest, but will require the co-operation of crews to maintain a smoothly operating service park.

Entry fees have not been received yet from some of the listed entries. Entries will not be formally accepted until a full entry fee payment has also been received. Note that early bird discount closes on Wednesday 8 February. If the entry fee is not received from any of the following crews before the close of entries on 22 February (8 pm), then that crew will be removed from the Entry List and be replaced by the next available entry on the Reserve List.
