Bega Valley Rally – June 7–8, 2025

The 2025 Bega Valley Rally, one of Australia’s most iconic and enduring motorsport events, is set to fire into life over the June long weekend with a stellar line-up of 62 crews and a challenging mix of stages across the stunning Sapphire Coast. Entries have officially closed, and the scene is set for an unforgettable two-day rallying experience.

Held on June 7–8, the Bega Valley Rally is a cornerstone of the Shamrock Haulage NSW Rally Championship and also serves as a point-scoring round for the East Coast Classic Rally Series (2WD & 4WD) and the NSW Clubman Rally Series. With over 249 km of competitive stages and more than 100 competitors across various categories, the event remains the only two-day rally on the NSW calendar and is widely regarded as the second-oldest rally in Australia, behind only the legendary Alpine Rally.

The rally boasts a rich history, tracing its origins back to the 1960s under names like the Snowy Rally and Southern Mountains Rally. Since 1973, it has run under its current name and continues to attract top talent from across the country. Its enduring appeal lies not only in the variety and quality of its stages but in the passionate support from the local community and rally fans alike.

Top NSW Contenders – Among the strongest entries in the NSW field this year are:

  • Anthony Sullens / Kaylie Newell – Citroën DS3
  • Josh Redhead / Ray Winwood-Smith – Hyundai i20 (Redhead Motorsport)
  • Richie Dalton / Mac Kierans – Toyota GR Yaris AP4 (Shamrock Motorsport)

These crews are hot favourites to take out maximum championship points, and their pace across fast forestry and technical shire stages will be a highlight of the weekend.

Event Overview
The action kicks off Saturday afternoon from Bega Sale Yards, with a selection of classic stages around Upper Cobargo and Buckajo before crews move south via liaison to Boydtown Beach Holiday Park just outside Eden. After a meal break, the competition resumes with spectacular night stages under darkness, adding a layer of challenge and excitement for both competitors and fans.

Sunday begins from the Eden-based service park and features more competitive stages through the picturesque Ben Boyd region and surrounding forests before concluding with the first car expected at the finish just after 1:26 PM. A presentation ceremony will follow on-site.

With a focus on competitor value and stage quality, the event includes several new sections for 2025 and improvements based on past feedback. The Sapphire Coast Sporting Car Club Inc. (SCSCC), the organising body, has taken care to balance technical challenge with scenic diversity, making this rally both rewarding and enjoyable.

Community & Support – This rally is made possible through the strong and continued support of:

  • Bega Valley Shire Council
  • Forestry Corporation of NSW
  • NSW Police
  • Local businesses, volunteers, and car club members

The community’s enthusiasm is palpable, with local accommodation providers, businesses, and spectators rallying behind the event. The roads, the atmosphere, and the support make this not just a rally, but a celebration of motorsport in one of NSW’s most beautiful regions.
